The New Heads of Department training runs annually in the Autumn term and is aimed at new HoDs who are in their first year of the post.
Written and delivered by experienced Heads of Department in the S7 Colleges, the course gets to grips with some of the critical factors that face a new Head of Department. The topics covered are: working with the departmental team, different approaches to measuring value-added, driving up quality and observing departmental lessons. There will also be an opportunity between the two days for delegates to reflect on a departmental issue and actions to be taken.
