Date for 2023/24: Tuesday, 9th January 2024 at Godalming College
This is a one day training programme aimed at teachers and tutors who wish to investigate further the role of Head of Department.
This annual event takes place early in Spring term and is designed to cater for staff within S7 who are looking to achieve Heads of Department positions in the relatively near future.
The programme has been put together to focus on some of the key skills, knowledge, application, interview techniques and downright savvy approach needed by the would-be head of department. Topics covered include: making applications; addressing the skills needed to become a successful Head of Department as well as some of the skills needed once in post such as Leading the team and moving from team member to team leader.
All of these sessions are short and hands-on and delivered by very experienced members of senior staff who have run successful departments in the past.
In addition, a question and answer session with senior staff will be on offer for aspiring heads of department to hear what senior managers are particularly looking for in a head of department.
