We are seeking to appoint a suitably qualified, committed and enthusiastic Media and Performing Arts Technician, with experience of using stage lighting, lighting systems and other performing arts related technology. The technician will focus on supporting the Drama & Performing Arts department and will be part of the wider Media and Performing Arts (MPA)Technician Team.

The successful candidate will be managed by the MPA Technician Manager and will be joining a vibrant college community which is open, friendly, and supportive. As a college, we are ambitious for our students, and we are seeking to appoint staff who can bring the right blend of skill, flexibility, commitment and energy. 

Please note that due to the nature of this role, flexibility with regards to working pattern is required. If there are specific days and times that you would not be available, then please let us know in the covering letter.

Contract details:

  • Permanent, 42 weeks per year (Term Time Only plus 16 days to be worked in the holidays)
  • 5 hours per week - Monday to Friday (between 8:30am and 5:30pm, flexible)
  • The pro-rata salary is £12,333 per annum (based on Grade 4, spine point 11 in the Support Staff Pay Spine for which full-time salary is £27,010 per annum).
  • 5 weeks holiday pay included in pro rata salary
  • Salary will increase annually within Grade 4 over 4 years.

A well-qualified T Level Digital Software Development or Computer Science teacher is required to join our thriving Computing department. We currently offer the T level in Digital Software Development, Computer Science A level, and IT BTEC at Level 2 and 3.

Qualifications:

Candidates should hold a good classification in an appropriate subject related degree, together with a recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed, DET).

Experience:

Current or recent experience of delivering T Level Digital Software Development, Computer Science or IT at Level 3 would be beneficial but not essential.  Applications from ECTs would also be welcomed.

 
Knowledge and Skills:

Excellent subject knowledge, including the ability to programme in two languages - Python and SQL preferred, but not essential.

Ability to work well in a team environment and collaborate effectively with external employers within different digital roles such as Software Developers and Product Owners.

Desirable but not essential:

Relevant or comparable industry experience in the digital industry such as software development.

Good understanding of using project methodologies and algorithms.

Personal Qualities:

We are looking for a reflective and inspirational practitioner with excellent teamwork, organisation and communication skills. 

Excellent problem-solving ability and strong communication and interpersonal skills

A commitment to high standards which motivate, support and encourage the growth of students to ensure excellent outcomes, both in the classroom and in the workplace. 

Three teachers currently teach in a suite of specially resourced classrooms. The successful candidate would join this team.

College to ensure that students are given the best possible support and guidance to enable them to
maximise their potential as well as be a key member of the Safeguarding Team as a DDSL (Deputy

The subject is a thriving area of the Faculty of Science – a vibrant community of supportive professionals. The Economics department is well resourced and all teachers follow unified schemes of work, homework and assessment materials. Staff are proactive in sharing resources for teaching and assessment and contribute fully to the development of the course.

There are approximately 35 students in each year of the course, and the Head of Electronics currently teaches all groups. The subject is taught in a fully appointed lab, supported by two experienced technicians who also work with the Physics team.  The subject is a thriving area of the Faculty of Science – a vibrant community of supportive professionals.
